When you need high quality and fast turn-around on laser micromachining, I-Source gets you up and running quickly. All custom fixtures and tooling are designed & manufactured by our CNC programming engineers our Orange County, California facility. If your facility is located within 100 miles of ours, we can pick up your circuit boards to facilitate manufacturing process.

Surface Mount Stencils For Electronics Assembly

All standard configurations are available, and all of our precision SMT stencils are electro-polished for enhanced paste release. For superior flexibility in achieving optimal solder paste volume deposit for components with diverse paste requirements, our multi-level stencils allow for multiple paste thickness with a single stencil.

We use state-of-the-art laser machines calibrated for optimal cut quality, high aperture and positional tolerances. When you order from I-Source, you can be assured that your stencil will be highly accurate and made from the best materials available.

Additional Processes

Micro-Etching – A unique chemical process developed at I-Source that creates a glass-like surface within the aperture wall, making it easier for the paste to go through. With this process we can manufacture stencils with a high aspect ratio.
Nano Coating – A chemical wipe that coats the stencil for:

  • Enhance paste release
  • Reduce cleaning frequency during the printing process
  • Provide better quality printing

EPR (Enhanced Paste Release) for slick SMT stencils:

  • EPR 1 – The stencil is nano coated
  • EPR 2 – The stencil apertures are micro-etched
  • EPR 3 – The stencil is nano coated and micro-etched

Shadow Masks

Improve Deposition Performance

shadow-mask-manufacturing-i-source-technical-services,-incShadow masks (also known as deposition masks & evaporation masks), are used in a wide range of vacuum-chamber evaporation and sputtering processes to fabricate both simple and complex micro-engineered electronic components and products. They are increasingly being used to deposit inks onto substrates during the manufacture of flat LED panel displays and other organic circuitry.

I-Source supplies a range of deposition masks such as single masks, multi mask sets, and frame systems with the possibility of ‘stepped’ recesses, limiting the need for spacer sheets. Finished shadow masks typically withstand post-deposition cleaning for up to 10 times longer than conventional masks.

Additional Information

Materials – Smaller than metal masks made for solder paste printing, our custom shadow masks are typically made from stainless steel but are also available in nickel and other alloys. Although we recommend stainless steel for most applications because it holds up well to temperatures and chemicals, we have experience fabricating shadow masks from other metals as well.

Custom Fixtures and Tooling in Just 2 to 3 Days

All of our SMT pallets, carriers and fixtures are made from either Durastone or Durapole. These specially-made composite materials are electrostatic-neutral, able to withstand chemicals and the repeated thermal cycles of manufacturing.

BGA or Micro BGA Reballing Kit

Custom designed and manufactured in-house for use with your specific chip, each self-contained kit includes everything you need to repair and reball BGA chips. Kits can be made 1-up to 4-up, can be reused indefinitely, and come with clear instructions so that even novices can use them successfully. What’s Included?
